7 TIPS FOR SEO OPTIMIZED ARTICLE WRITING

Do you want to learn how to write content that ranks well in Google for the long haul?

Content that creates a steady flow of potential leads and new customers for your business?

Well, you are in luck because that is exactly what we are going to break down for you in this blog post on SEO optimized article writing!

SEO OPTIMIZED ARTICLE WRITING SOLVES PROBLEMS

One of the most important things you can do is to help your readers solve a specific problem. When people write content, they tend to think,” Let me do the keyword research” and simply start typing in random terms to build their content strategy.

But it’s not just about writing content that gets traffic. It’s about helping people solve their problems at the core. If you can connect with the pain points that your audience has and help them address the problem they have your content will be 10 times better!

To give you a quick example, If I run a business that sells premium watches I may have a blog post that explains how to care for antique watches and discusses all the ins and outs. Maybe I can do that a few different ways or include photos, short videos, Animations, whatever it takes to truly help them solve their problem or search query. That is what makes the Google algorithm happy and keeps your content on top vs the competition.

WRITE A PHENOMENAL HOOK OR HEADLINE

Second, spend half of your time on your headline, eight out of ten people will read your headline, but only a small percentage will continue reading the article. That’s the power of writing amazing headlines though…

You can get more than two out of ten people to click through and read the rest of your article. This does not mean writing clickbait headlines, but rather evoking curiosity with your headline!

For example, “The Seven benefits of taking mid-day naps, number five will SHOCK you!” Hmmm, number five will shock you. What’s number five??? That’s what we mean by a great hook. If you’re specifically trying to rank your content It’s not all about shoving in keywords. And it’s not about being clickbaity, it’s about actually providing value to your searcher.

Number five shouldn’t shock people if it’s not that great. And you shouldn’t use that headline if you’re writing something on mid-day naps if your fifth point isn’t truly shocking. But if it is, then fire away Tex.

PERFORM KEYWORD RESEARCH

The keywords that have the highest significant search volume should anchor your main topic. In other words, they should be related to the main topic you are writing about. In reading an article on SEO,

I might have other keywords that are anchored with it, such as on-page SEO, optimizing loading time for SEO, content creation for SEO, SEO for eCommerce, etc. All these keywords can generate a great deal of traffic. Rather than having lots of little articles, you want one more comprehensive one if your goal is to rank that piece of content. Look at your main keyword and make sure that other keywords complement it and anchor to it.

RESEARCH YOUR COMPETITION

Look at what your competitors are doing and the most relevant keywords you can find to build your content outline. Do a search on Google for whatever content you’re writing, and you’ll see who is ranking on page 1 for that keyword.

Take a good look and see what they are doing and you won’t have to reinvent the wheel. You can also take a look at what is ranking on pages 4 and 5 to see what insight you can gain!

See what they’re NOT doing compared to the people that are ranking at the top, it’ll give you an idea of what the top 10 people are doing. And what you should be emulating doesn’t mean you should copy them.

  • You should go above and beyond
  • They’ll be missing some points
  • They may not be as updated
  • They could have limited media
  • Maybe a video would give you an edge

It is important to do that so that you can rank higher and be able to use those things they missed to your advantage.

OFFER PRACTICAL ACTIONABLE ADVICE AND BE REAL

We think that it is very important to give practical and actual advice if your goal is SEO optimized article writing. There is nothing worse than reading something and thinking, huh, that was a waste of time. I didn’t get anything out of it. When they read your article they want to say, Wow, I am fired up by this article. I’m going to take action and try to increase traffic to my website. When you’re reading an article, you want that kind of enthusiasm when you’re reading it.

DON’T FORGET TO INTERNALLY LINK TO OTHER CONTENT

Your website should link to other relevant content. Be careful when doing optimization or internal linking, and only add links that make sense. The number isn’t what matters, but you just need to add 3-4 links to other content that makes sense.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the anchor text. Just make sure you go back and check your old content to make sure you always include relevant links to the latest content you’ve created. This will help build a better experience for your visitors.
